TRU organized the AMAZING RACE 2, this time held at Selesa Hillhomes, Bukit Tinggi on the 4th and 5th of july - last weekend. we had a really awesome time of fun and fellowship with the Temerloh Gospel Hall youths :)
us SJGC youths and our helpers met up at church at 9.30am on saturday morning before splitting up into our respective cars and off we were to bukit tinggi! the temerloh ppl were already there by the time we arrived and it was actually rather daunting seeing almost 90 unfamiliar faces, coz i didnt go for AR1.
i had been asked to be a group leader as well as an apartment captain so i was feeling kinda worried about whether id be able to communicate with them, much less bond with them, in less than two days! id have to say that most of them were actually quite shy and reserved.. we SJGC ppl had to make the first moves, which was kinda funny considering there were only about 30 of us! but yeah, we were technically the "hosts" so go figure! :)
after lunch we had a lil free time so we started chatting to a few of the girls. when the time for AR2 came and we were divided into groups, i was pretty relieved with my group coz i had li za, lucas, and a few of the girls whom i had just gotten to know :)
those girls ended up in my apartment too! we were quite excited about it and everyone was like laughing at us :) i also had kat and anthea in my apartment! the rooms were BRILLIANT. air-conditioned, with proper beds and HOT WATER in the bathrooms. it wasnt camp.. it was more like a holiday! :D
the race went pretty well! my team was pretty much the least kiasu of all.. we strolled along happily between stations, lepaked for a while at a few stations while thinking of how to complete the tasks and basically were very relaxed about the whole thing :P the only time we really ran for it was after we completed the last task! we reached at the same time as 2 other teams, but because i wasnt holding the clues, hsien zern said i had to wait :( we ended up in 6th place out of 10 teams. that wasnt too bad considering our goal was "not last!" ;) we regretted a bit though coz we couldve been 4th! or even 3rd if we had been more competitive. but hey, the whole point of it was to have a blast and enjoy ourselves so it was a good job :)
no team photo coz i didnt have my camera and i dont think PG has uploaded the photos yet :P
that night we had worship at the tennis court with shanice and nick leading us. a bunch of us had been asked to help be back up singers :) after that was a games session where we played the usual games.. human bingo, nuclear bomb, mini scavenger hunts and the ever present water games. luckily no one got wet :D
after that they handed out prizes from the race and of course, junk food was featured in the prizes. that night was like junk food feasts in all apartments! :D lights out at 11.30pm and my girls were quite good.. everyone was in their rooms by 11.30-ish :) heheh.
that night was soooo nice. i slept for like more than 8 hours okay.. a feat unheard of in camps! hahaha. breakfast at 9 and then worship in the hall where desmond shared his testimony of how life is like a roller coaster, sometimes up and sometimes down. it was very touching :) i think it really helped some of the non-believers understand what being in a relationship with Christ is all about. a guy from temerloh also shared about how he became a Christian. overall, the session was quite inspiring and at the end of it, 15 youths accepted Christ :)
then it was time to pack up and exchange contact details as well as take photos. urghhh my apartment missed the photo okay!!! :( coz like some of the girls were quite slow. haha but the wonders of photoshop can easily make it look like we were there :P
some of the girls from my apartment and team :)
yun xin, yun ning, xin rui and an lee. the rest.. erm. i dont know their names :( sorry la too many ppl! haha :)
