lost in a fairy tale, can you hold my hands and be my guide?

February 7, 2010
random thought of the day: i wish i could live in a fairy tale :)

i caught a cold somewhere and my nose is all stuffed up now :( its so not fun. boooo. i really need to get better soon, i have a genetics test coming up this friday!

2 of my friends, kelly and wenjing celebrated their birthdays last friday, on the 5th of february :D

HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY WENJING!!

sherry and i spent friday night out with kelly at a mixer at the naphi house where we met the brothers of ΝΑΦ and the sisters of ΣΟΠ as well as the rush-ees of this semester. eric and kevin joined us too, as well as melissa, amarnath, ray, carmen and jeffrey. it was quite fun i guess.. but we missed kelvin and wyman :( somehow its just not as fun unless its all 4 of us together!

i dont have pictures of the night yet coz sherry hasnt uploaded them yet.. i'll update this when i get the pics! :)

on saturday, we were playing with waifai's new cranium set :D cranium is this board game where you pick activities to do from 4 different categories - creative cat (drawing and sculpting), word worm (lexicons, puzzles, mind melds, gnilleps), star performer (charades, acting, singing) and data head (all sorts of random trivia questions). and this time we actually managed to finish a whole game! sidi, stanley and vincent won, then kelvin, ray and waifai, and err sadly wyman, sherry and me came in like third! hahaha. good game, though :)

chinese food at the union (yum!) and then we were playing indian poker in wyman's room.. OMG. most stressful game of poker on earth!!! ARGHH. the guys are like total poker sharks and they totally messed with our minds :( sighh. i need to learn the tactics of poker :P someday! hahaha. sherry was out first, then kelvin and then me.. not bad la. i was leading, then kelvin and wyman tag-teamed against me! but it was fun :))

we watched gridiron gang last night too after a pretty lengthy discussion about.. stuff. talking is good :D i like talking. anyway, it was the 2nd time i watched it and i still loved it! :)

football movies are always so inspiring! i like!

jazz-y beats, anyone?

February 3, 2010
overnight, the season has changed from almost-nearly-but-not-quite-there-yet-spring to winter again here in bing.. sighh.

this is the view from my window.
i want to make snow angels in that white field of snow :(
but a bit the malu laaa :p heheh

okay anyways. in an effort to make myself slightly more cultured, i agreed to accompany sherry to this jazz concert that was being held on campus in the casadesus hall.

we got lost looking for the hall.

we found it in the end :) i  managed to sneak one picture of the band coz no photos were allowed :D

a jazzy quartet

wayne escoffery is the dude in the picture.
veneration is the other three dudes.
excuse my pointing out the obvious :)

the 3 dudes have names too okay. im just lazy to explain.

the vibe-ist was very enthusiastic -
he kept shouting beats out loud to the beat of his vibes -.-
..very loud.
the bassist was mellow.. and very chill.
the drummer was cool :D

conclusion = i dont think im cultured enough to appreciate this kind of jazzy instrumental stuff. i kinda zoned out halfway through and everything started to sound the same..

BUT. the guys are really good on their instruments and its pretty obvious that they really know their stuff when you watch them individually. as a group though, i found it kinda overwhelming.

not cultured enough la, what to do :p

last, but certainly not least...

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY VICTORIA!!!

a brand new year calls for a brand new start!

hello people!

admittedly, this is the start of the second month of the new year, but its only the 2nd week of classes here at bing so do forgive me :) my year has only just begun! i will try my very best to keep this blog alive and fresh with the ups and downs of my life! i really will, i promise! :D

just a quick update.. i spent about 2 weeks in the big apple, a.k.a. new york city - concrete jungles where dreams are made of.. - which was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.. managed to spend quality time with ui tee, adrian, jay and cezlynn! loved it! ;) we ushered in the new year 2010 at times square, then i came back to good ol' bing to spend another 3 weeks lazing around and generally being highly unproductive. very relaxing indeed :)

THANK YOU SO SO VERY MUCH MUM AND DAD FOR LETTING ME GO TO THE CITY.

right so as i mentioned, the first week of the spring semester has just ended! im in 3 courses only this semester - molecular genetics, cell biology and british fiction. very interesting courses, especially the science classes and i have great professors this semester too! lectures have already started, but luckily none of us really had any work to do.. so we headed out on friday night to the naphi house to party it up with their version of REPLAY ;) being girls, we couldnt resist the temptation to dress up in killer heels despite the freezing temperature. but hey, can you blame us? now, if only the guys would put in some fraction of the effort girls do to look good..

but whatever. guys will be guys. so it was 5 of us - sherry, kelvin, wyman and ray - but surprisingly enough we knew a lot more people there, which made it all the more fun! we pretty much owned one of the pong tables coz the guys were on a winning streak.. which was yet another surprise. believe me, it really was. the house is actually tiny. very cramped spaces, despite the 3 floors. they do serve awesomely good drinks though :D and the guys were very generous that night. whee :)

good music + good atmosphere + loads of people + good drinks = a very good time

however. the next morning had me wondering - is the alcohol-induced highness of the night before worth the alcohol-induced pain of the morning after? hangovers are no joke. but no match for hot showers! :D

saturday was lie-back-and-relax day and in the night we headed out to watch the dollar show, which was truly brilliant! the dollar show is a semesterly event where the 10 or so acapella groups in our college perform several songs each, either original songs or covers of songs that they arrange themselves. they are REALLY good. i especially loved the binghamtonics, the rhythm method (ha. ha. :p), the binghamton crosbys and the treblemakers :) i would love to try out for one of the groups.. maybe next semester ey? david auditioned for the crosbys this morning, i have to find out how it went :) after that we just chilled in wyman's room - ice cream, poker, and apples to apples. yeahh. :D

sunday was yet another relaxing day.. walmart run to get stuff and also gifts/cards for 3 people whose birthdays are within days of each other.. and all in this week too! sherry and i just finished watching pride and prejudice.. i ♥ this movie!!! makes you believe that maybe true love isnt dead after all, and that one day you could find your very own mr darcy too! aww :)

okay, im off to bed now.. somebody saaaave meeee. preferably superman, thanks. i detest mondays. and im going to have to start taking classes seriously this week. wish me luck please?
